Internal Family Systems
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a therapeutic modality that works with the whole of our system to support healing and integration. It is an embodied and psychological model that Gabor Maté has described as "one of the most innovative, intuitive, comprehensive, and transformational therapies to have emerged in the present century.”
Sessions generally take place seated and focus on the inner relationship between our self and the different parts within our system. With embodied awareness and inner dialoging we learn to bring curiousity and compassion towards our inner system, and in this way create conditions of trust and safety to allow for the healing of our protective and wounded inner parts.
IFS offers pathways for healing burdened and stuck parts within our system so that we can access more connection, calm, presence and joy. As we heal and integrate polarised or stuck parts of our inner system, we become better able to receive our innate gifts and wisdom.
IFS is a non pathologizing and evidence based therapy that has been shown to be effective for a broad range of issues, from physical conditions to emotional, psychogical and trauma based issues.
"One of the cornerstones of effective and lasting trauma therapy.”
